RPG's
I absolutely love RPG's. Video games have been my favorite pass time for the past 12 years. "Why?", you might ask. It is because RPG's aren't about pushing buttons real fast to avoid dying. Most RPG's have excellent storylines and are good for relaxation. I believe, for the most part, that RPG's have the potential to become a more important source of entertainment than modern films. My absolute favorite RPG,
without a doubt, is Xenogears. This game had only a few features that made
it shy from perfect. The story was excellent, involving themes of a
religious satire, love, sci-fi, and philosophy. It contained great
character depth with an intelligently written script. The music was
excellent, score written by Yasunori Mitsuda who in my opinion is one of the

game play itself
for the most part was also good. Square had a new fighting system designed
which made the game interesting. The only flaw I saw in game play was the
fact that they added some parts with some relatively difficult jumps.
Jumping isn't usually part of typical RPG's, and I must say that it did make it
more interesting to interact with the environment. However there were some
points that it just made the game aggravating. The only other major flaw
that Xenogears had was the walking environment. There was a poor mixture
of sprites in the polygonal surrounding. If I had to rate this RPG on a
scale of 1 to 10 I would probably have to give it a 9 1/2. From my
perspective it is the greatest RPG to date, but it lacks replay value which many
players may want in their games.
